false positive

a flagged problem that turns out not to be real

A false positive is an alert for something that is not actually a problem. Security tools that produce too many train their users to ignore them, so real issues get missed in the noise. For AI tools the risk is sharper, because a model can confidently describe a flaw that does not exist — which is why findings must be reproduced and checked by a person.

Think of it as

A car alarm that goes off in the wind: after enough false alarms, nobody looks when it really matters.
