Kubernetes is widely used software for running applications packaged as containers. It decides which server runs each container, restarts failed ones and connects them. A group of servers it manages is called a cluster. Whoever holds admin rights on a cluster controls every application running in it.
Think of it as
A port's crane system that decides which ship carries each shipping container, and moves them when a ship breaks down.
